Why talking/blogging about the good stuff is, well, good.

Why talking/blogging about the good stuff is, well, good..

I’ve been feeling pretty glass-is-pretty-much-empty lately. Talking with my friend Kellee reminded me that God always works things out but damnit if I hate the stress that goes along with waiting for shit to work out, you know? So then I ran across the post above and I think that rather than focus on the damn near empty glass I need to point out that it’s not totally empty . . . so here’s to clouds and princess swimsuits and running a 1/2 marathon in 25 days!

11 miles on the treadmill!

Naptime, schmaptime

29 Aug

So the napless wonder strikes again. I’m so lost – I have about 2 hours at night before I pass out from sheer exhaustion to get done anything I might need to do and that doesn’t include spending time with the husband. It’s a little stressful to say the least.

I’m teaching two classes this fall (luckily two sections of the same class) but I probably should prepare and I was asked to do a guest lecture in a class next week. Again, I should probably prepare a little bit for that.

Yet here we are, sticky fingers all over the computer and me in dire need of more coffee.

I do still have a workout plan for the week:

Sunday: off

Monday: 5k on the treadmill (@28 min) and 60 min pilates

Tuesday: Long run (on the treadmill; I plan to watch a movie and run till it ends or 2 hours is up – that’s the limit in the nursery)

Wednesday: I was going to do another 5k on the treadmill and pilates but I found out that the sub I don’t care much for (as a teacher, not person) is going to be there so I think I’m going to go to Group Power and run 2 miles after

Thursday: Probably bootcamp

Friday: I’m thinking a treadmill 10k (I really want to be able to run a 10k in under an hour so why not practice on the treadmill?)

Saturday: Cycling/Group Power

And now off to entertain the kid. And finally drink that coffee . . .

Doesn’t get much better

Long day

28 Aug

Yesterday was a long day. It started with an hour of spin. Love the Sat am class!

After that I had to quickly dress for Tom’s viewing. I think this is a very common Southern thing: the open casket. I think it’s creepy as hell but I do understand the need, the proof I suppose, to give ourselves closure. Personally, I hope whoever is around after I die cremates me.

It was tough but I’m glad I went – I was able to give Tom’s dad a letter Tom wrote to himself as part of a class assignment.

The princess & I then went to get a gift for the birthday party. And a bath mat because the husband nearly fell in the shower!

The napless wonder fell asleep on the way home so she got in a little nap on the way to the party. A good time was had by all!

Tilting at windmills

26 Aug

Today’s workout, thanks to yesterday afternoon’s bootcamp session, was pretty awful. I was dragging to say the least but I did manage to knock out 4 miles, 4 painful miles, on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the ARC machine.

Toddler and I are now off for an afternoon at the pool since she is currently the napless wonder and I don’t know what to do with her. She is so so so tired but just won’t sleep but she also won’t really do anything else – thus the reason I pulled out the fingerpaints yesterday. She’ll probably fall asleep on the way to the pool.

After boot camp. tough class today.

Who remembers fingerpaints? I don’t remember using them all that often . . . and now that I am the mother of a toddler, I know why! They’re a mess but oh-so-much-FUN!

This morning the toddler and I went to the grocery to fill up the new refrigerator. I’m so pleased – it’s the same dimension as the last one but seems soooo much  bigger, perhaps due to the french doors and bottom freezer? At any rate, I’m in LOVE!!!

Sorry, that’s a rotten picture but please don’t judge, I’ve only got an iPhone camera at the minute . . . you’ll notice perhaps that the kitchen is in the midst of a mini-remodel. There’s awful wallpaper in the kitchen/dining area that I’ve been half-assed removing for about 3 months now. The plan (and perhaps the fancy new fridge will motivate) is to remove the wallpaper and paint a lovely shade of green (tbd) and I also found this countertop paint by rustoleum so we’ll do the fake butcher block counters with that in black to match the appliances. This should all take about 5 years, by which time I will be so sick of the awful floors, we’ll have to update those too!

I feel pretty good today – I mentioned the birth control issue yesterday and I added some prozac to the mix (I was taking it to alleviate PMS symptoms, now to alleviate bc issues) and hopefully things will get under control. I hate adding hormones to my already wacky hormonal system but I was desperate. Just ask my husband.

Should probably go see what the princess is up to . . . we’re heading to boot camp later today. I’m excited – the gym is adding an am boot camp on Thursdays starting in the next week or so. I much prefer an am workout!
